According to the announcement by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), as of March 1, 2025, the conditions for temporary residence of Iranians in Canada have changed. Under these changes, the work permit policy for Iranians who arrived in Canada by February 28, 2025, will be extended until February 28, 2026.

Iranian nationals who meet the following conditions:
• Have entered Canada on or before February 28, 2025
• Have applied for a new or extended work or study permit

Can continue to benefit from certain immigration exemptions.

Residence Extension for Iranians in Canada

Iranians residing in Canada who wish to extend their stay must follow one of the following options:
• Extend their stay as a visitor
• Extend their study permit

However, applications submitted for the Iranian work permit extension before February 28, 2025, will still qualify for special exemptions. Applications submitted on or after March 1, 2025, will be subject to standard fees.
